Friday Faves #6

Crafts 'n Things & Flea Market Style
Don't you love when you buy a magazine you've never read before and end up loving it? Take that level of enjoyment and double it, and that's what happened to me last weekend. I picked up two new magazines on a whim and honestly loved both.

Crafts 'n Things is filled cover-to-cover with fun projects spanning all different areas of crafts- jewelry, paper crafts, sewing, re-purposing, painting, you name it, it's in there! The projects I want to tackle include the beach scene terrarium as seen on the cover, glass mosaics, and a really neat treasure box made from a wine bottle.

Flea Market Style is filled with pretty pictures of houses and rooms that fill me with envy. I must make a better effort to get out to some flea markets and score myself some vintage treasures! FMS gave me an idea of things I should be on the lookout for and of course also has some project ideas as well. Visit the Flea Market Style Blog here!

Captain America
The aforementioned magazines are good enough tips for me to stop here this week, but then I thought about it and came to the realization that a Lucy & Larry Friday Faves just isn't complete without its weekly dose of geekdom. So let me tell you this: I. Love. Captain. America. And I do mean the movie, not just Chris Evans. Although he is definitely included in that statement.

What? Give a girl a break! :)

New Items - Glass Pearl Necklaces

Just added two brand new necklaces to my Etsy shop after the feedback I got on a custom order!

Here's the custom order that inspired me!

What do you think?

Friday Faves #5

Well, real life caught up to me recently, which is why I missed the last couple of weeks. But I'm back this week!

Design Seeds
This is my new favorite blog. Warning: once you visit Design Seeds, you may find yourself wondering where your whole day went! I love, love, love this blog of many colors and few words. Jessica, the magic behind Design Seeds, finds gorgeous photos and creates color palettes out of the hues found from the images. The result? Endless inspiration. Check in daily for new palettes, or search by color, season or collection. Here is just one example of the *amazing* (yes, it's now a noun) you can find on Design Seeds.

The Dark Knight Rises - Teaser Trailer
Any Batman fans in the house? I for one loved The Dark Knight and am eagerly anticipating the final Christopher Nolan/Christian Bale Batman flick... and it's still a whole year away! The teaser trailer just came out and leaves me more puzzled than ever, but the sneak peek is definitely worth watching once (or more!). Haven't seen it yet? Entertainment Weekly has the trailer here. My only complaint is this: where's Joseph Gordon-Levitt?? :)

Thriller Kid
Mariners fans witnessed an incredible performance at Safeco Field on 80's Night, and it didn't come from Ichiro, Justin Smoak, or any other baseball player for that matter.

P.S. how hysterical is the commentary?!

That's it for this week- I have some new projects in mind and ideas for new items for my shop, so hopefully I will be sharing those with you in the coming weeks. Have a wonderful weekend!

I love my iPhone

Pulse

I've been searching for an app for my iPhone to help me stay on top of my favorite blogs, and I finally found it with Pulse. I was able to load in all my favorites- it syncs up with Google Reader- and now I have all this great reading material right at my fingertips. It's so great when you have a few minutes to kill, whether it's waiting for an appointment, during a commercial break (I multitask), or sitting at a red light (OK, totally kidding about that last one). You can keep your blogs in different categories that make sense to you. Each blog pans across the screen with a square for each post. When you tap on the post, it will first show you a simplified text-based version, but if you tap on it again, it will take you directly to the source. It grays out once you've read it so you can easily tell what you still need to look at. If you read as many blogs as I do, you NEED this app (and oh, by the way, it's free!).

Check out my tutorial on how to make these!

Stamped Spoons
You may have already seen my stamped garden markers post from earlier this week, but I've still got them on the brain. I'm trying to figure out exactly what I want to say with my leftover spoons (and, you know, find excuses to buy more old spoons). Also, I realized that some of you may love the spoons but don't want to make them yourself. Lucky for you, they are all over Etsy. Here are a few of my favorite finds:
Hope you all have a wonderful weekend and Happy 4th of July!
